The Patriot Day which is also known as the Patriot Day and National Day of Service Remembrance and is celebrated every year on September 11. The day is dedicated in the memory of 2,977 people killed on September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. Considered to be one of the deadliest terrorist attacks ever done, the entire world along with the United States pays tribute to all the people who lost their lives, who survived and who fought back on response to the attacks on 9/11.

 

The bill to declare 9/11 as Patriot’s Day or National Day of Service Remembrance was first passed in October 25, 2001. The then President Gorge W. Bush signed the bill after the house passed it by a vote of 407-0. And on December 18, 2001 it was declared as U.S. Public Law No. 107-89.

Every year since 2002, the American Flag is flown at half-staff on 9/11 at the White House and all the United States government buildings and establishments throughout the world. Even the people in the U.S are encouraged to display American Flags on their individual homes. Moreover, the entire country observes a moment of silence beginning at 8:46 A.M., the same time at which the first terrorist hijacked airplane hit one of the World Trade Centers.
